What exactly is a SPEED DATING EVENT?

History: The concept of "Speed Dating" has been around for 10+ years! Speed dating actually started in Los Angeles in 1998 when the first event was held by Rabbi Yaacov Devo, at Pete’s Café in Beverly Hills. Speed Dating eventually crossed the Atlantic and is hot in the UK and many other parts of the world now!  Objective: The goal of these events is to help busy active singles, have a chance to meet in a pleasant non-threatening, private environment face-to-face. Our events are held only in upscale restaurants which serve excellent food, not loud bar room pubs. Women stay at the same table all evening, while the men participants progress around the room to a different table meeting a new "date” every 7 minutes. At the sound of the "DING," each date ends and everyone marks their score sheet as to whether or not they'd like to follow up with that particular person again. At the end of the evening, everyone turns in their sheet. We will follow up with you within 24 hours by email (or phone if you do not have email) to notify you of your matches. In addition to those you meet one-on-one in your rotations, you'll have the opportunity to meet and mingle with the other participants before the event and  after the event. At our regular Speed Dating events, you do get one drink FREE and appetizers. Additional food and drinks are available for purchase through the venue and are at the participant's personal expense. (Please be advised that special events may have different pricing, structure and inclusions).


What is the Age Groups for Events?

Group A - Women 23- 34 / Men 26- 37

Group B - Women 34- 45 / Men 37- 48

Group C - Women 45- 56 / Men 48-59

Group D - Women 56- 67 / Men 59-69



Do you check (proof) for ages before the event?

I do not "proof" your age at the door of the event. It is my own personal belief- that this is embarrassing and not necessary for this type of event. My events are fun, friendly and social.  I trust someone will not lie to me when they are asked their age when they register. If someone does choose to lie about their age, they are only cheating themselves. No one wants to start a relationship based on a lie.  If it is brought to my attention by the participants, that you did misrepresent your correct age, you will only be allowed to attend another speed dating event that is appropriate for your age. This rule applies to BOTH men and women.  

 

 

Where are the single events held?

Long Island events: Western Nassau/Queens, North Shore Nassau, South Nassau and Suffolk County 

Westchester County NY events held in: Yonkers and White Plains, NY  

NYC Single Events held in: Manhattan, Queens and Forest Hills

Northern NJ and Connecticut Events will be planned in the near future.

 

We hold our events only in great restaurants which serve excellent food--- not loud bar room pubs. Some of our current and favorite places to visit for events are - CIAO BABY! of Massapequa,  CITY CAFE of Garden City, Residence Inn MARRIOTT of Plainview, SIMPLY FONDUE of Great Neck,   HOLIDAY INN Hotel of Ronkonkoma,  BABYLON CARRIAGE HOUSE and the OFF KEY TIKKI in Patchogue to name a few. We have held events in the past at the upscale GARDEN CITY HOTEL and the ROSYLN CLAREMONT. Eastern LI events have been held at BEDELL CELLARS in Cutchogue and Speed Dating events at the SOUTHAMPTON INN. Our BBQ's are held in PARKS or BEACHES not parking lots of bars. Even our Bowling Events -at 300 Long Island  and Pool / Billiards events at THE BIG KUNHUNA of Huntington are all fun and classy places!

How well can you get to know someone in 7 minutes?

While it's obvious that 7 minutes is not sufficient time to get to know someone in any great depth, your goal should be to determine whether the person you are meeting is someone that you would like to follow up with and possibly see again. Meeting someone face-to-face has some real advantages over online dating. Sometimes sparks really do fly with instant chemistry! But at the very least, the shroud of unknown associated with the internet is a not an issue. Try concentrating on the questions you ask and the observations you make of each person you meet. This will be the most valuable way to making your assessment.

Do people really connect and match up at these events? 


YES connections happen all the time! Although 7 in Heaven is not a personal matchmaking service, and not everyone lets me know when they make connections, I do know of dozens of long term connections that have been made possible through attending our events. We bring singles together in fun ways giving you every opportunity to make these connections. No one knows exactly when and where your long term connection will happen for you, but coming to one of our events will make it much easier. What information do you give my matches at a SPEED DATING EVENT?

Within 24 hours following a Speed Dating  event, we email all participants. Those without email can call us for their matches. We provide the singles that have attended with matches the contact information with only those they matched with. Matches information includes the first name only, the assigned table number and contact information (cell numbers and email). We will also let you know (the names only) of those that choose you but you did not choose them on your sheet. Also referred to as "one way matches".  Yes, you can let us know you changed your mind, and I will update the matches and give you their contact information too.   

 

What happens if I don't receive any matches at a Speed Dating event?


We email everyone with or without matches, the results of the Speed Dating event you attended. Anyone lacking matches for any reason are welcome to attend another of our Speed Dating events for 1/2 price standard admission. That means EVERY reason, regardless of whether it was because you choose no one; or no one choose you. *Single Mingles and other Special Events, 1/2 price credit does not apply this is only for SPEED DATING events.

What happens if I cancel, don't show up, arrive late, or leave early at a Speed Dating event?

In the event that you need to cancel and give at least 24 hours prior notice to the scheduled event, we will allow you a refund or a credit toward a future event.
Our speed dating events rely on equal numbers of men and women to pair for each round of dates. Out of consideration for the other participants, please make every effort to attend and be on time. 

Please appreciate that last minute cancellations, leaving in the middle of an event and "no shows" impact others' participation.

Please be advised that just like any event ticket purchase, there are NO refunds or credits of any kind for a No Show* or leaving the event early. Once your registration is confirmed and paid (your credit or debit card is charged or your check or money order received), your sale is final.

If you aren't able to attend an event at the last minute for which you have registered and paid, out of consideration for others, please exercise the courtesy of letting us know ASAP. Ideally, the best solution is for you to pass along your admission to a friend of the same sex and within the event's stated age group so as not to throw off our balance of matches. If you are unable to send a replacement, we’ll attempt to replace you from a waiting list (if there is one).

 *No Show - In the event that you do not show and do not call the venue to let us know that you are unable to attend, you will be charged full price to register to attend another event - absolutely no credit given.

What are the rules for SPEED DATING and other types of events?

In order to keep the environment fun, low-pressure, comfortable and safe, participants must observe the following:

  1. THIS RULE APPLIES ONLY to SPEED DATING EVENTS- You may not ask anyone directly out on a date.
    2. *Other less structured events you may directly approach someone at any activity or sporting event, dances or dinner parties

  2. THIS RULE APPLIES ONLY to SPEED DATING EVENTS- You may NOT ask anyone for or give out contact information including a last name, phone number, email, address, or employer (not even a business card)
    3. *Other less structured events you may ask for contact information or ask the coordinator of the event for a DATE MATCH card for a more subtle and less direct way of requesting contact information. See DATE MATCH for additional explanation.

  3. THIS APPLIES ONLY to SPEED DATING EVENTS- There will be an equal proportionate male to female ratio.
    *All other activity or sporting events, dances, dinner parties or special events- gender ratio will vary and may not be equal

  4. THIS APPLIES to ALL EVENTS- You must represent yourself in an honest manner, that includes not lying about your age before signing up for an event.

  5. THIS APPLIES to ALL EVENTS-  Be respectful of yourself and others. You may not ask any sexually explicit questions nor say or do (including gestures) anything that may be interpreted as being threatening or sexual harassing. For the concern and well being of everyone attending our events, we reserve the right to ask anyone with rude, disrespectful or inappropriate behavior to not return to any future events.

  6. THIS APPLIES to ALL EVENTS Although we do ask some basic screening questions, we do not complete any formal type of back-ground checks on anyone attending. Therefore you are completely solely responsible for your interactions with anyone you meet at an event and make any arrangements to date or any other types of meetings arranged.

  7. Understand 7 in Heaven Singles Events is not a personal matchmaking service. Many singles make great connections at our events, but keep in mind we are a social activity club giving you fun opportunities to meet singles

     


BBQ's, single activity and sports events and single mingles parties what is a DATE MATCH CARD and how does it work?

 

In addition to Speed Dating events, 7 in Heaven holds many different kinds of events such as BBQ's, dinner parties, dances, single mingle parties and many types of sports and activity based events. These events are less structured then Speed Dating events and more activity focused. However, we still give you an opportunity to make connections. At these events, if you see someone you would like to meet again, simply fill out a DATE MATCH CARD with your name and contact information on the front of the card. Put the name of the person you are interested in on the back of the card. At the end of the event, hand the card to the hostess. We will notify the person (or persons) you wrote on the card and let them know you are you are a SECRET ADMIRER and you are interested in getting to know them better. We will then give that person your contact information to get in touch with you. If there is a mutual interest, they will contact you. OR maybe someone may enter your name... we will let you know of the name and contact information of your secret admirer! *NOTE- NO ONE receives your contact information without your permission.

 

 

Will a single woman feel comfortable if she attends an event alone?


Attending a 7 in Heaven Speed Dating or activity event is a very comfortable format for single women to attend alone. I encourage women to attend alone, as this is the best way to make new friends, both male and female. When you are busy socializing with your buddy, you don't socialize with as many singles. If you alert me when you arrive that you have come alone, I am always glad to introduce you to those that have already arrived. Once a Speed Dating event begins, you will be so busy you won't even have time to notice you are alone! The choice is yours, come alone or come with a friend but have fun either way. 

 

What are the advantages of Speed Dating and Single Activity Events versus online dating or other ways to meet singles?

Speed Dating and activity events allow you to meet face-to-face with age appropriate single men and women locally where you live and work.

Unlike online dating, you get to meet the girl or guy next door, not the online dater that lives 8,000 miles away from you. Participants live or work in your area, and we all know that if you're looking to find a successful relationship, statistically your chances for success are greater the closer to home you date. Also, we all know about how many MR. or MRS. Married-and- cheating are using the online dating sites these days as a way to meet unsuspecting singles. Not meeting in person and instead emailing and talking on the phone allows people to easily be something they are not. Here at our single events you are meeting face-to-face with men and women that are serious about finding a quality date.

Unlike meeting at the Laundromat or grocery store or at work, everyone has the same agenda - single and looking to meet someone special!

The events make it easy to meet other singles. You don't need to worry about whether or not anyone will talk to you. At Speed Dating, there's no need to fear rejection because at the event no one is allowed to ask someone for a date.

Your whole evening isn't monopolized by someone who doesn't interest you, unlike what might happen on those blind dates your friends set you up on!

How many times have you gone out with your friends to a crowded Restaurant/ Bar/ Happy hour and not met one single person in the course of the whole evening? Speed Dating and activity events are more efficient. In just one evening you'll meet between 7-10 dates instead of just one - saving you time and money.

It's fun!!! Sometimes Speed Dating reminds us a little of musical chairs for grown-ups. But in our grown-up version, no one loses or gets left out.

 

 

 

How much will it cost? How can I register for an event? 


 MEMBERSHIP IS FREE  7 in Heaven Singles Events does not charge you any membership fee or commitment beyond the specific event you wish to attend. This affords you a "pay as you go" freedom of choice to pay, rather then pay a large amount for a membership fee which you may not use; especially if you meet someone right away! Registration for our events is simple and after completing the brief registration form, attend any event you wish in your age group. Some events are open to all ages but most events are held by age groups. It is suggested you register and reserve for a Speed Dating event at least one week in advance here on the 7 in Heaven official website.  Women's seats for Speed Dating do fill up quickly.  Click here to complete the short pre-registration form or call us at 631-592-9804 to register. 

The regular price for Speed Dating is $38.00 per event (our events include 1 Free drink + Appetizers) and because we are balancing an equal amount of men and women attending, it does require you reserve a seat and make a pre-payment. Activity events may have either less or additional costs and do not always require reservation only where specified.
